Garage Doors + Openers
Southern Highlands Doors supplies, installs, repairs and maintains garage doors across the Southern Highlands and Macarthur. We are a Gliderol Authorised Dealer and have been an installation and service partner for B&D, Steeline and Merlin for more than 20 years.
The range below covers residential sectional and roller doors, the Gliderol Platinum range, commercial and industrial roller doors, and automatic openers. We install all styles of garage doors for residential and light industrial jobs. If you are not sure which door suits your garage, book a measure and quote and we will confirm your headroom, side room and opening size on site.
Sectional Doors
Sectional garage doors, also called panel lift doors, are the most popular door style in Australian homes. The door is made from horizontal panels joined by hinges. It lifts vertically along tracks at the opening, then runs horizontally back along your ceiling and sits parallel to it when open.
Because the door does not swing outwards, you can park right up against it. That makes sectional doors a good fit for short driveways.
Sectional doors need headroom above the opening and clear ceiling depth roughly equal to the door height, so they suit garages with a standard ceiling and no low beams or storage racks in the way.
Panel profiles run from flat and modern through to traditional ribbed and timber look finishes, and every door is made to your opening size rather than picked from a fixed range.
We handle the full sectional garage door installation from measure and quote through to fitting, motor pairing and remote coding. If you are replacing an existing door, we can remove and dispose of the old one on the same visit.
Roller Doors
Roller doors coil into a drum above the opening rather than running back along your ceiling. The curtain is a continuous sheet of ribbed steel, so there are no ceiling tracks and no overhead framework eating into the space inside.
That leaves the ceiling completely clear for storage racks, lighting or a mezzanine, which is why roller doors are the usual answer in narrow garages, sheds, units and converted garage spaces. They are also the fix when a garage is under about 2.1 metres high or under 3 metres deep, where a sectional door will not fit cleanly.
Roller doors are made to your opening size and come in a wide Colorbond colour range, so the door can be matched to a roof, fascia or fence.
We install roller doors across the region, including roller door installation in Camden and roller door installation in Campbelltown.
If an existing door is sticking, dropping partway, closing crooked or refusing to close at all, the cause is usually a worn spring, a damaged curtain or a failing motor. We handle roller door repairs in Camden and roller door repairs in Campbelltown, and we can supply replacement parts on the spot to keep the downtime short.
Platinum Sectional Doors
Platinum is Gliderol's premium sectional range. It uses the same lifting action as the standard sectional door, so the fit and the space it needs are identical. The difference is in the finish.
The range covers deeper panel profiles, matt and textured surfaces, and darker contemporary colours that hold their look against modern render, brick and cladding. The Madison profile in Midnight Matt is one of the more popular combinations.
On most homes the garage door is the single largest element on the front facade, so the finish carries a lot of the street appeal. Platinum is worth a look if the door is doing that much work visually.
Talk to a garage door specialist if you want to compare Platinum against the standard sectional range before you commit. You can also see completed installs in our project gallery.
Commercial Roller Doors
Commercial and industrial roller doors are built to a different standard than a residential door. Heavier gauge steel, larger spans, stronger counterbalance, and motors rated for high cycle counts rather than a handful of openings a day.
We cover commercial roller door installation for shopfronts, workshops, storage units, mechanics and light industrial tenancies where the door is opened and closed constantly through the day.
For larger sites we handle industrial roller door installation, including manufacturing plants, distribution centres and warehouses where clearance height, span and cycle rate all have to be specified properly. Doors are designed to Australian standards and installed around your operating hours to keep the disruption down.
Wind rating matters on commercial doors. If the door sits on an exposed elevation or the site is in a higher wind region, tell us at quote stage so it gets specified correctly the first time.
Openers + Accessories
Every door we supply can be paired with an automatic opener. We fit Merlin and B&D motors, and the right one depends on the door.
Sectional doors take a rail driven opener mounted on the ceiling. Roller doors take a motor that drives the drum directly, like the Merlin SilentDrive Elite MR855MYQ, which is built for roller doors and runs quietly enough for a garage sitting under a bedroom.
Accessories include spare remotes, wall mounted controls, external keypads for entry without a remote, safety beams, and app control so you can open the door from your phone and check whether you left it open.
We stock motors, remotes, springs, cables, rollers and brackets in our shop and ship Australia wide. If you cannot find the part you need, give us a call and we will source it.
If an opener is getting slow, reversing partway, running noisily or dropping remote codes, it is telling you something is worn before it fails completely. Book garage door servicing and we will diagnose it. If you want to stop the callouts happening in the first place, we can set up a garage door maintenance schedule so springs, cables and tracks get checked on a cycle rather than after a breakdown.
